The Faia d'Água Alta Waterfall is located in the village of Lamoso, which is part of the parish of Bemposta, in the municipality of Mogadouro. Situated in a landscape transition zone, the waterfall is nestled in a valley where the waters of the Lamoso Stream mark the landscape before meeting the Douro River. This positioning allows for close contact with the natural elements of the region.
With an impressive drop of 35 meters in height and a width of 10 meters, the Faia d'Água Alta Waterfall is directly fed by the Lamoso Stream. Its most evident beauty manifests during periods of higher rainfall, when the stream's flow increases and the force of the falling water becomes more prominent. It is at these moments that the waterfall reveals its full dimension and the water's ability to shape the surrounding natural environment.
The surroundings of the Faia d'Água Alta Waterfall are characterized by a diverse natural landscape, predominantly featuring elements of Mediterranean forest. Dense vegetation, with species such as alders, willows, and ashes, contributes to the chromatic richness of the site, with intense green tones. The scenery is completed by the blue of the rushing waters and the gray of the granite that frames them, creating a visual contrast. The constant sound of moving water adds an auditory dimension to the tranquility of this space.
