Set within the characteristic rural ambiance of northeast Trás-os-Montes, the Casa do Povo is situated within the village's urban fabric. Its presence reflects the importance that these community buildings have had and still hold in the heart of small Portuguese settlements.
The concept of Casa do Povo dates back to a period when there was an effort to provide rural communities with spaces dedicated to social and cultural support, and the well-being of their inhabitants.
