The amphitheater stands next to the Vila Flor Cultural Center, in an urban area marked by granite paving and traditional stone walls. It is situated on a small, slightly sloped esplanade, reinforcing its role as a natural stage.
This position offers views of the village's historic houses and the gentle hills of the Vila Flor municipality, creating a picturesque setting that invites contemplation before or after events.
Designed in the early 21st century as part of a cultural revitalization plan, the amphitheater materializes the ambition to bring the community closer to the performing arts. The project integrated modern elements without detracting from the local character.
Constructed from concrete and steel, the space reflects a dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, serving as a stage for concerts, recitals, and poetry gatherings that punctuate the village's cultural calendar.
The semicircular stone steps enhance the sensation of a classic amphitheater, while the simple lines of the metal windbreak add lightness to the ensemble. The vegetation, especially the grapevines growing on the pergolas, brings freshness on hot days.
In one corner, a small, independent fountain and discreet water channels create soft reflections, providing a natural soundtrack and a cooling effect that contrasts with the stone surfaces.
In the center, the paved and slightly inclined stage facilitates sound projection and visibility, ensuring that each performance benefits from the surrounding landscape.
The metal pillars not only support shade structures but also function as frames that enclose the rural horizon, making each event a moment of communion between art and nature.
