The Panoramic Journey

The journey on the Guimarães Cable Car offers a unique perspective on the Minho landscape. On a journey of approximately 1,700 meters, completed in about ten minutes, passengers are transported in enclosed cabins with a capacity for six people. From inside these cabins, a vast panorama unfolds, revealing the center of Guimarães on one side and, on the other, the magnificent slope of Penha with its natural richness and vegetation.

A Connection Between Worlds

This means of transport provides a way to access Penha Mountain, overcoming a 400-meter elevation difference between its initial station in Costa and the terminal station in Penha. The Guimarães Cable Car stands out in the region as the only one of its kind to offer this particular traverse. In addition to transporting people, some cabins are specially equipped to accommodate bicycles, a convenience for those wishing to explore the mountain trails on two wheels.
