Parque do Picoto, Porta Norte is located in the Bracara Augusta Urbanization, in the northeast of Braga, just above Rua do Miradouro. This entrance point connects the residential area to pedestrian paths that infiltrate a wooded area of cork oaks and holm oaks.
Situated on a granite outcrop, access is developed via wooden trails and staircases, marked by rustic handrails that follow the natural slope of the terrain.
Right next to the entrance, there is a generously sized parking lot, facilitating the arrival of small groups. Nearby, wooden benches and tables form a picnic area sheltered by the shade of the trees.
The mixed ground of gravel and wooden deck provides stability to the walkways, while the dry aroma of the trunks and the chirping of birds create a tranquil environment, inviting slow walks.
At the end of the route, a natural viewpoint offers a wide view over the houses of Braga. The valley of the Este river outlines itself in terraces, and the surrounding hills draw the horizon, creating a scene where the urban layout and the rural landscape merge.
At different times of the day, the light highlights shadows on the rocks and reveals new contrasts, making each moment unique for observation or photographic recording.
