Situated in the Orada area, in the village of Pinheiro, this sanctuary is located in a tranquil rural setting. Its position at the foot of the Serra da Cabreira contributes to an atmosphere of contemplation, away from the more bustling center.
The Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Orada is a temple dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It serves as a place of worship and pilgrimage, maintaining this religious use to this day. It is a point of reference for faith in the Vieira do Minho region.
Inside the sanctuary, visitors will find the main altarpiece and side altars, including one dedicated to Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe (Our Lady of Guadalupe). There are records that an older sanctuary on the site was dedicated to this devotion.
The sanctuary is particularly known for the tradition of pilgrims who seek it to ask for relief from head-related ailments. It is common to see wax ex-votos and the practice of offering roof tiles, carried on the head as a way of fulfilling promises. There is also the ancestral custom of depositing salt, also carried on the head, in a specific container that is still preserved on site, a practice associated with requests for female fertility.
