The Chapel of Santa Cruz was built in 1639, as indicated in the inscription on the main portal.
The building exhibits a Mannerist style and is considered a characteristic example of this style in Guimarães.
The chapel has a rectangular plan and is preceded by a porch with pillars at the corners and columns in the intervals.
On the main façade, a lateral granite pulpit stands out, as well as a Santa Cruz also in granite, on the opposite side. There is a small bell tower on the side facing the Castle.
The interior of the church used to be covered with 17th-century "carpet-type" tiles, but currently only a ceramic dado remains. Some of the tiles were used to line the sacristy.
The neoclassical altarpiece displays the image of Christ above the tabernacle, with the images of Saint John the Baptist and Our Lady beside it.
The remaining tiles in the chapel belong to the camellia family pattern and were probably executed around 1660.
In the churchyard in front of the church, there is a cross with the inscription: "Canon Arrouchela had it placed. Year of 1640".
