This cultural space is located in the Sé area, in the heart of Braga. Its location is embedded in the historical and urban context of the old city center, making it accessible and an integral part of the experience of exploring this area of the city.
The history of this museum dates back to 1957, the year it was founded by Canon Luciano Afonso dos Santos. Over time, it became the repository of a significant collection of sacred art and archaeological pieces, considered important for the North of Portugal region.
The collection of the Pio XII Museum also includes a set of artistic works, namely paintings and drawings, which complement the historical and religious collection.
One of the distinctive elements of this cultural complex is the presence of the Medieval Tower, known as "Our Lady of the Tower". This historic building invites exploration across its various floors.
Through its different levels, the tower presents a narrative about the history of the city of Braga. Inside, there is also a small oratory, dating from the late Baroque period.
Also an integral part of this space is the Henrique Medina Gallery. This venue is dedicated to the exhibition of artworks, serving as a complement to the museological and historical collection.
