The Church of Tebosa is located in the parish of Tebosa, municipality of Braga. It is integrated into a calm and well-kept space, with Portuguese pavement, trees and good accessibility.
It is a granite church with simple but striking lines. It has a facade with a triangular pediment, a cross in the center and two pinnacles. The bell is in a lateral bell tower with a square base with sculpted decorative elements. The roof is made of traditional Portuguese tile and the stone walls reveal the rustic and robust style of the region.
The space around the church is peaceful, with well-kept trees (like olive trees), and a wide stone walkway. Ideal for those who like serene and photogenic places. It is common to find the place well maintained, which shows the affection of the local community.
Although not very extensive, the history of the parish is old. The first reference to the locality dates back to the year 1081. The parish had an important presence in medieval times and during the Napoleonic invasions, where episodes of local resistance stand out, mainly protagonized by women of the land.
At Christmas time, the atmosphere of the church gains even more life with the Christmas spirit. It is a recommended time to visit, according to local testimonies.
In the past, there was a Benedictine monastery in Tebosa, now disappeared, with only the image of the Holy Trinity remaining as a testimony of this religious past.
The church is highly cherished by the inhabitants, who consider it one of the most important symbols of the parish. It reflects well the population's connection to its religious and cultural heritage.
