The "Pegadinha da Senhora" Fountain and Laje dos Sinais are located on Mount Assaia.
"Pegadinha da Senhora" traditionally receives this name, but in reality it has no relation to a lady. According to local tradition, the name is linked to the horseshoe of a donkey that would have carried water to Egypt. The horseshoe design can be seen near the "Pegadinha da Senhora" Fountain.
The historian Martins Sarmento suggests that Romanization may have related the fountain to the Pegasus horse of mythology. Later, the population would have created the Christian version of the donkey on the way to Egypt.
In the vicinity of the "Pegadinha da Senhora" Fountain, it is possible to find the remains of a megalithic monument known as "tolo". This monument has archaeological value and is a testament to the ancient human presence in the region.
