Its location offers a serene environment, away from the faster urban pace, but still accessible from the city of Braga.

An Expansive View

From Monte de Santa Marta das Cortiças, the view extends over a horizon of hills and valleys that characterize the region. It is possible to contemplate not only the surroundings of the city of Braga, but also those of Guimarães, as well as the lush valleys of the Cávado, Ave, and Este rivers. On clear days, visibility reaches even further, allowing one to glimpse the coastline and the imposing mountain ranges of Gerês, Cabreira, Amarela, Arga, and Soajo, revealing the natural diversity of northern Portugal.

For Contemplation and Photography

The Panoramic Swing of Esporões invites a moment of pause and appreciation. Its design aims to provide an experience of connection with nature, where visitors can enjoy the serenity of the fresh air and the tranquility of the countryside, with the vast landscape as a backdrop. This spot is particularly appreciated by those seeking a refuge to relax and absorb the natural beauty that surrounds it. The unique perspective and the natural frame that the swing offers make it a privileged spot for photography, encouraging the immortalization of memories of this singular landscape.

The Past of Monte de Santa Marta das Cortiças

The swing is located in a place with a relevant historical and cultural heritage: Monte de Santa Marta das Cortiças. This hill holds a significance that transcends its natural beauty, with references to archaeological investigations from 1955 that uncovered vestiges from prehistory to the Iron Age and the Castro culture. Interestingly, the subsoil of the hill also holds indications of a Suevic basilica, a valuable testimony to the period when Braga was the capital of the ancient Roman province of Gallaecia. The name of the hill, in turn, derives from the existence of an ancient chapel dedicated to Santa Marta and the presence of many cork oaks that frame the landscape, adding a dimension of symbolism and history to the visit to the swing.
