The Cruzeiro de São João do Campo (Cross of São João do Campo) is located at the intersection of the roads to Junceda, Carvalheira, Covide, and Vilarinho, in the parish of Campo do Gerês, municipality of Terras de Bouro, in the district of Braga, Portugal.
This cross has a unique characteristic, as it is supported by an ancient Roman milestone, which was erected during the reign of Emperor Decius (249-251). The milestone marks mile XXVII of the Via Nova, an important Roman road.
Recognized for its historical importance, the Cruzeiro de São João do Campo has been classified as a National Monument since 1910, making it a treasure protected by Portuguese law.
The cross is a monolith made of granite, with a Latin cross in wood and a representation of Christ in stone. The entire ensemble is protected by a metal structure in the shape of a triangle, supported by three circular granite columns, which gives the monument a singular appearance.
