The Viana de Lima House Museum, Casa das Marinhas is located in Marinhas, a locality in the municipality of Esposende, situated within the Cepães area. Its position offers a calm environment, with the natural landscape of the Minho coast framing the building, inviting a tranquil appreciation of the surroundings.
This residence, known as Casa das Marinhas, is a creation of the architect Viana de Lima himself, a prominent figure in the Modern Movement of Portuguese Architecture. Built in 1954, it served as a holiday and weekend retreat for the architect's family. Currently, the house is recognized as a significant example of his work and vision, classified as a Public Interest Monument.
Transformed into a house museum, Casa das Marinhas allows for a closer understanding of Viana de Lima's life and creative thought. The space offers an opportunity to observe the application of modernist principles in a private residential context. Through the architecture and preserved environment, it is possible to explore how the vision of one of the prominent names in national architecture materialized in daily life and in his most intimate space.
