A beautiful Baroque-style manor house built in the late 18th century, located in the parish of Coucieiro, in the municipality of Vila Verde.
The house consists of two distinct volumes and has an attached chapel.
The first body has four round-shaped windows on the upper floor, three openings with grilles on the ground floor, and a door.
The second body is smaller and has two windows and a door.
The chapel is especially notable for the stonework on the facades, panelled ceiling, altar, and altarpiece.
Since 1978, the Casa de Carcavelos has been classified as a "Property of Public Interest" due to its historical and architectural significance.
The Casa de Carcavelos was built by João Xavier Soares and his wife Maria Teresa de Azevedo around 1783.
The Archbishop of Braga granted permission for the construction of the chapel on November 13 of that year.
Francisco de Campos de Azevedo Soares, the couple's grandson, was born in the house on April 22, 1818.
Francisco de Campos de Azevedo Soares became the first Viscount of Carcavelos and later the first Count of Carcavelos.
