An inscription on one of the interior doors, dated 1676 for the original construction and 1862 for a renovation, is a direct testament to these past transformations. In 1931, the building was acquired by the Municipal Council, becoming part of the public heritage.

Former Functions and Connection to Culture

Before assuming the role that gave it part of its current name, the building was adapted in 1969 to house a preparatory school, a change that entailed significant alterations to its interior.

For approximately thirty years, Casa da Botica was home to the Municipal Library, becoming a reference point for culture and reading in Póvoa de Lanhoso and reinforcing its identity as a space serving the community.

Heritage Value and Structure

Casa da Botica is distinguished by its three-story construction, with the section on the first floor being the oldest. The part considered the noblest section of the building was added at a later time than the initial construction.
