In particular, it is associated with an old saying related to the weather on February 2nd, dedicated to Nossa Senhora das Candeias (Our Lady of the Candles): "if Our Lady of the Candles is smiling, winter is yet to come; if she is crying, winter is passing." This popular belief associates a sunny day on that date with a prolonged winter, while rain suggests that the cold season is ending.
In recent years, the chapel has undergone rehabilitation and remodeling works. These interventions aimed at restoring both the interior spaces and the exterior structure, ensuring that the building remains in good condition and preserved for future generations and visitors.
