Built in 1699, this chapel is located in Azurém, Guimarães, and maintains a traditional atmosphere despite the surrounding urbanization.
It is an important center of devotion to Our Lady of the Conception, especially on December 8th, when many faithful visit the chapel for the celebrations.
The interior is decorated with 18th-century tiles depicting biblical scenes. The tiles in the nave show episodes from the Old Testament, while in the chancel there are representations of the life of Our Lady.
The chapel has three altars with gilded carvings. The main altar features an image of Our Lady of the Conception and blends Mannerist and Baroque styles.
The ceiling of the chancel is a wooden masterpiece, and there is an 18th-century organ, which complements the unique atmosphere of the place.
Classified as a Monument of Public Interest, it is one of the main tourist and religious points of Guimarães, offering a view of local art and history.
During the Nicolinas festivities, the chapel is a place of celebration, with cultural and religious manifestations, especially by the students of Guimarães.
