The Clock Tower is located in Santa Maria, a locality in the municipality of Serpa.
It was built by Master Pascoal in 1440, replacing the battlements at the top of the tower.
The tower has a brick support where the clock and bell are installed, whose chimes mark the hours and can be heard throughout the city.
Above the entrance door of the tower, in Largo de Santa Maria, there is an inscription that dates the construction of the tower to 1440.
Access to the tower is through a monumental staircase with 52 wooden steps.
Inside the tower, there is a ribbed vault ceiling with a shield containing four fleur-de-lis.
The clock of the Clock Tower is an important landmark in the lives of the inhabitants of Serpa, having been stopped for some time before being repaired by the City Council.
The chimes of the bell can be heard again, marking time in the city of Serpa.
