Patacho Beach is located on the coast of the municipality of Odemira, near Vila Nova de Milfontes. Bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, this beach is part of an environment of remarkable natural beauty, being framed within the coastal landscape of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. It is characterized by its sheltered position, nestled at the base of an imposing cliff that shapes its surroundings.
One of the most unique elements of Patacho Beach is the presence of the remains of the Dutch tugboat Klemens. This vessel, approximately 17 meters long, ran aground in this area of the Alentejo coast in December 1996. The metal structure of the Klemens remains visible on the sand, particularly in the southern section of the beach, constituting an unusual landmark and a testament to the continuous interaction between human action and the force of nature.
Adjacent to the area where the Klemens rests, the cliff reveals an interesting geological formation: a natural arch sculpted in the rock. This scenic element allows access to a small adjacent sandy area, which becomes fully accessible and more sheltered during low tide. It is a corner that unveils itself to the rhythm of the tides, offering a unique perspective and a more intimate environment to those who explore the beach.
