Praia do Cão is located on the coast of the municipality of Odemira, in Alentejo Litoral. It is near the village of Cavaleiro, in an area integrated into the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, facing the vast Atlantic Ocean.

Natural Features:

This place is characterized by a small sandy area, flanked by imposing cliffs that define the coastline in this region. At the top of the cliff, a considerable and extensive dune system develops, which contributes to the surrounding natural landscape.

Sand Dynamics:

A relevant aspect for those visiting Praia do Cão is the influence of the tide. The sandy area of this beach becomes fully submerged when the tide reaches its highest point. Thus, the sandy strip is only accessible and visible during low tide, which is the best time to explore the place.
