Almograve Beach is located a short distance, approximately 500 meters, from the village of the same name, in the municipality of Odemira. It is situated within the protected area of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, which grants it a preserved natural setting. The beach lies at the base of a cliff, with access to the sandy area provided by staircases.
This beach is notable for its extensive and wide sandy area, offering ample space along the coastline. Although not very deep in terms of inclination, its vast extension allows for many visitors without feeling overcrowded.
The dynamics of the beach are greatly influenced by the tides. During low tide, the water recedes and uncovers areas that form natural pools, quiet and sheltered spots that invite relaxed swimming. With the rising tide, the waves approach the sandy area, changing the environment and making it suitable for certain activities.
When the tide is full and the waves are present, Almograve Beach offers suitable conditions for practicing sports like Bodyboard and Surf, attracting those who seek the Atlantic waves.
The surroundings of the beach are defined by the cliffs that rise behind the sandy area. From the top of these rock formations, it is possible to contemplate a wide and striking landscape, capturing the essence of the Alentejo coast and the power of the Atlantic Ocean, integrated into the Natural Park's scenery.
On the sandy area itself and at the base of the cliff, there are some points of natural interest. The Rocha Furada (Perforated Rock) is a particular rock formation in the center of the beach. The ends of the cliff to the north and south, known as Ponta dos Azulejos (Tile Point) and Ponta da Ilha (Island Point) respectively, delimit the beach's extension. A freshwater spring emerging from the cliff is also visible.
