Praia da Angra da Vaca is located on the Alentejo coast, in the municipality of Odemira, near the town of Vila Nova de Milfontes. This beach is situated within the protected landscape of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. It lies at the base of an imposing cliff and is surrounded by an extensive dune system, which gives it a naturally secluded environment.
Unlike many beaches, Praia da Angra da Vaca is not characterized by an extensive sandy stretch. Its surface is composed mainly of pebbles, cobblestones, and other rock formations. This particularity dictates the experience at the site, making it less suitable for laying out a towel on the sand or for easy sea bathing. The rocks continue into the surf zone, influencing how waves reach the shore and creating a unique coastal landscape.
Given its natural characteristics and less direct access, Praia da Angra da Vaca tends to be an unfrequented spot. Its environment is one of great isolation, providing an experience of pure contact with the rugged nature of the Alentejo coast. It is not a beach for those seeking infrastructure or amenities, but rather a space of quietude to observe the landscape and the power of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a known spot for naturism and, as a rule, allows the presence of animals.
