Angra da Cerva Beach

Category: Nature > Beach

District: Beja > Odemira > Vila Nova de Milfontes

Location

Situated on the coast of Vila Nova de Milfontes, in the western part of the Odemira municipality, this beach emerges between winding cliffs facing the Atlantic. The surroundings present a marked contrast between sedimentary rock and the deep blue of the sea.

The sandy shore extends in a gentle curve, framed by low-lying vegetation typical of the Southwest Alentejo and small watercourses that descend the escarpments, keeping the environment consistently fresh.

Natural Surroundings

The extensive fine sand is dotted with rocks sculpted by erosion, where freshwater springs emerge, forming discreet waterfalls over the stones.

The clear waters reveal hues that change between emerald green near the edge and dark blue at the limit of the cliff, making the scenery very photogenic.

Topography and Access

Access involves a descent via a sandy trail with a steep gradient, which requires firm footing and some caution, especially near areas where the rock is damp.

The path is short but challenging: the return climb can prove demanding, so it is advisable to plan your visit without haste.

Atmosphere and Precautions

As it lacks surveillance or bathing facilities, the beach maintains an atmosphere of tranquility and privacy, even during peak season.

Currents and waves can gain strength without warning, so it is advisable to assess the sea conditions before entering the water and wear appropriate footwear near the wet sand.
