The hermitage stands in the area of Orada, in the parish of Pias, municipality of Serpa, next to the municipal road that crosses a series of agricultural fields and cork oak groves typical of the Alentejo interior. The surrounding territory presents a peaceful rural landscape, with lines of cork oaks and scrubland accompanying the horizon.
Although the date 1946, inscribed above the door near the roof, indicates a phase of reconstruction or restoration, there are indications that pilgrimages dedicated to Saint Louis were held here since the mid-20th century. This small temple serves as a point of worship and gathering for the local community, keeping alive a tradition of devotion and fellowship.
Erected in a simple style, the hermitage features whitewashed walls highlighted by a blue stripe at the base and at the top of the pediment. The wooden portal, framed in stone, opens into a single nave, above which stands a humble bell tower with a single bell. The ensemble conveys serenity, enhancing the interaction between the luminous white of the facade and the vast sky that stretches around it.
