Located in Vidigueira, a prestigious wine region in the Alentejo, Herdade Grande is just a few kilometers from the town center and is known for its unique climate and natural beauty.
The presence of the Serra do Mendro creates a Mediterranean microclimate, with hot days and cool nights. The poor, schistous soils are ideal for cultivating high-quality vines, especially for elegant and characterful white and red wines.
Herdade Grande cultivates several national and international grape varieties, both red (such as Aragonez, Trincadeira, and Syrah) and white (Antão Vaz, Arinto, and Chardonnay), valuing local tradition and innovation in viticulture.
The estate has belonged to the Lança family since 1920. With a passion passed down through four generations, the family has continuously invested in the quality and innovation of its wines, always maintaining respect for traditions.
Herdade Grande produces around 400,000 bottles per year, using a combination of traditional and modern methods. The winemaking techniques respect the authentic character of the grapes, including the use of traditional clay amphorae (talhas), an ancient technique of the region.
In addition to wines, the estate produces superior quality extra virgin olive oil, using exclusively mechanical methods to guarantee the genuine flavor of the Cobrançosa and Galega varieties.
Integrated into the Alentejo Wine Route, Herdade Grande offers guided tours, wine tastings, and gourmet picnic baskets, ideal for those who want to explore the local culture and gastronomy. The estate also organizes events such as weddings and business meetings.
Open from Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 6 pm, with prior booking recommended.
