It displays personal objects, documents, and religious pieces linked to the life of D. José do Patrocínio Dias, who was Bishop of Beja between 1922 and 1965.
The route is divided into two areas, a darker section, where vestments and liturgical garments are exhibited, and a lighter one, with small pieces in display cases, in a modern and carefully designed style.
The space was designed by architect Helena Botelho and received the Silver Award in the Small Cultural Spaces category, at the Lusophone Architecture and Interior Design Awards.
There is a virtual version of the gallery that can be visited through the official website, allowing a visit from home.
D. José do Patrocínio Dias was a man of faith and action. A military chaplain in the First World War, he played a significant role in the Diocese of Beja, where he founded religious and social institutions. He was an important figure in the 20th century, both in the Church and in the local community.
