The House on Rua Visconde de Ferreira do Alentejo, 31 is located in the center of the town of Ferreira do Alentejo, in the District of Beja, Portugal.
The house has a hybrid architectural style, combining characteristics from various movements, such as a gable roof, similar to the Swiss Alps, medieval details visible in the Moorish windows, and polychrome tiles with 19th-century influence. The facade is divided into two parts by a continuous balcony on the first floor, with a white ceramic balustrade and ceramic pine cones on the corners. On the ground floor, there is a central door and two windows, all with curved lintels. The facade is covered with tiles with geometric motifs in shades of blue, white, sepia, and yellow. The first floor has three French windows similar to those on the ground floor, which provide access to the continuous balcony. On the top floor, below the roof, there is a window divided into three parts, in a Neo-Moorish style, with horseshoe arches on the side parts and a pointed arch in the central part.
The construction of the house took place during a period of great economic development in the 19th century, driven by urban growth in the municipality of Ferreira do Alentejo. The Vilhena family, in particular the Viscount of Ferreira do Alentejo, played an important role in this development and built the house, which was named after the viscount and gave its name to the street where it is located.
