The Palacete is located in the center of the village of Ferreira do Alentejo, in the District of Beja.
Also known as Solar dos Frades.
The building presents a style characteristic of Romanticism, especially in the decoration.
It was built by João Carlos Infante Passanha, a member of a wealthy family in the municipality, between the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The construction of the Palacete was part of a period of urban renovation in Ferreira do Alentejo, driven by the growth of wine production in the region.
The Palacete and other buildings built by the Passanha family contributed to the transformation of the image of Ferreira do Alentejo, giving it a more urban appearance, especially in the center of the village.
The building was used as a prison and school, acquiring the popular designation of Solar dos Frades.
At the end of the 20th or beginning of the 21st century, the Palacete was acquired by a family of Dutch origin, who carried out restoration work and converted it into a tourist accommodation unit.
The Palacete is part of the tourist unit, together with the Moradia D. Diogo Maldonado Passanha.
Access to Solar dos Frades is via Rua Miguel Bombarda, in Ferreira do Alentejo.
