The Aliança Underground Museum is located in Sangalhos, in the municipality of Anadia. It is housed inside Caves Aliança Vinhos de Portugal, in the area known as Casainho. This area has a strong connection to the region's winemaking tradition and production.
This venue stands out due to its unusual location: a museum created inside the underground galleries where wines, sparkling wines, and brandies age. Visitors to the museum walk through the beverage conservation areas, simultaneously encountering various art collections displayed along the route. The experience combines the cellar environment, with its temperature and humidity characteristics, with the presentation of art pieces.
Inside the cellars, visitors can explore a vast and varied collection of artworks. This artistic collection is organized into several distinct collections, covering different themes and periods. The collections on display are owned by Joe Berardo and offer an overview of various areas of artistic and cultural heritage, presented in a unique context.
The Aliança Underground Museum opened its doors to the public in April 2010. It was designed with the purpose of integrating the traditional activity of wine cellars with the presentation of important art collections, thus creating a cultural space that offers a different perspective on both worlds.
