Inaugurated in 2003, Parque do Prego was conceived as a space for leisure and social gathering for the population. Its creation resulted from a collaboration between the Municipality of Oliveira do Bairro and the Ria Municipalities Association, with the aim of enriching the region's green areas offering. Over the years, the park has developed a unique character, where nature has increasingly asserted its presence, giving it a more untamed atmosphere and a less manicured appearance than its initial plan foresaw.
