The Ribeira de Gondim Park is located in the town of Arouca, integrated into the Crasto area. Its position, approximately five hundred meters from the town center, makes it easily accessible, serving as a natural extension of the urban cluster. This green space, situated in the municipality of Arouca, offers a smooth transition between the built environment and nature.
Inaugurated in December 2018, the Ribeira de Gondim Park was designed as a public ecological corridor. Its primary purpose is the preservation and enhancement of the watercourse that gives it its name, the Ribeira de Gondim, and all the surrounding natural landscape. The rehabilitation project for this space focused on sustainability and environmental quality, creating a place where nature can be appreciated and protected.
Visitors can observe here the typical fauna of riparian ecosystems, such as dragonflies and salamanders. Furthermore, it is common to spot birds associated with agricultural areas, including turtledoves, sparrows, and jays, which find refuge in this environment.
With an area of approximately 25,000 square meters, the park presents itself as a pleasant place for leisure and physical activity. It features a fitness circuit with an eight-hundred-meter path, equipped with fourteen distinct stations for exercise. For those seeking a more moderate pace, there is a shorter route, four hundred and fifty meters long with four stations, designed for those who prefer a gentler activity.
This green space invites various outdoor activities. It is a suitable place for running or cycling, enjoying the grassy areas for a moment of rest, or simply taking in the environment for a picnic. Its structure was designed to provide the town with a place conducive to recreational activities and physical well-being.
