Located in a building constructed in the 1940s, the museum houses a diverse collection of art, including Mannerist painting, furniture, ceramics, sacred art, silverware, and various objects.
The collection includes works by renowned painters such as Rivera, Didacus, Calvert, Diogo Teixeira, Gregório Lopes, Josefa de Óbidos, Carlos Reis, Martinez Rúbio, João Carlos, and José de Guimarães, among others.
The museum was created in honor of D. Marieta Solheiro Madureira by Dr. António Mota Godinho Madureira, a veterinary doctor who acquired and restored works of art throughout his life.
The house museum was opened to the public in 1988 as a form of gratitude to the local community and in memory of D. Marieta. The collection spans the 14th to the 20th centuries and presents various styles and materials.
The collection includes Flemish tapestry, sculptures, furniture, and the couple's personal library, as well as a historical representation of Portugal in the 16th century.
The Casa Museu Marieta Solheiro Madureira is a tribute to the couple's love and dedication to art, representing perseverance and good taste in the preservation of artistic history.
Over the years, the house museum has received illustrious visitors, some of whom have left their testimonials in the Book of Honor, including personalities such as Prof. Fernando Pernes, Prof. Paulo Marques, Dr. Frederico de Moura, D. Francisco Teixeira, and Dr.ª Ana Maria Lopes.
The house museum underwent restoration work between 1999 and 2001 to ensure the preservation of its artistic collection.
