Situated in the Quinta da Borralha Urbanization, this architectural and landscape complex is located in Águeda. Its position in the urban area grants it a notable presence, functioning as a distinctive element in the local landscape of the municipality of Águeda.
Casa da Borralha, frequently referred to as a Palace, is a 19th-century building distinguished by its architectural grandeur. The main façade features three floors and five sections, with three of them culminating in triangular pediments. On the central pediment, a coat of arms can be observed, evoking the family's history, a piece believed to have been reused from the 16th-century construction that preceded it. Balconies and mansard windows lend the house a unique charm. Inside, the staircase connecting the different floors features a wainscot adorned with historicist-inspired tiles, designed at the J. A. Santos factory in Coimbra, in 1905.
Adjacent to the palace, a Neo-medieval style chapel stands. Its unique architecture is manifested in details such as ogival windows and a prismatic tower topped by a spire. The surrounding garden constitutes a space of great natural beauty and serene atmosphere. Within it, various species of large trees, lakes, and an artificial grotto are found, all interconnected by a network of trails that invite discovery and contemplation of the carefully planned landscape.
