The Windmill in Posto Santo is located in the area known as Espigão, in the locality of Posto Santo, belonging to the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo. Situated at an altitude of approximately 190 to 200 meters, the site is accessible via a 'canada', a narrower path, which is asphalted.
In terms of appearance, the main body of the windmill is white, resulting from the plaster applied over the block structure. At the top, the cap stands out, built of concrete and painted a vivid red. The frames, possibly of windows or other openings, are made of wood and painted green.
The absence of typical elements of an operational windmill, such as the mast, the tail (which orientates the windmill to the wind), and the sails, is notable.
An interesting aspect about this windmill is the uncertainty surrounding its functional history. Old documents and cartography, namely maps from 1965 and 1999, do not mark its presence. This suggests that the structure may be of more recent construction and, possibly, was never used for grinding cereals. The hypothesis is raised that it may be a simple replica of a traditional windmill, serving more as a landscape or decorative element than as a historical industrial structure.
