The Cabeço das Pedras Negras Viewpoint is located on the eastern part of Faial Island, in the locality of Ribeirinha, belonging to the municipality of Horta. Its elevated position offers a unique perspective on the surrounding landscape.
From this observation point, the view extends over the vast ocean and, in a privileged way, over the channel separating Faial from Pico Island. It is possible to behold the imposing silhouette of Pico in its entirety, from its base to its summit, providing a memorable landscape. The eastern coast of Faial Island also reveals itself in its full extent, with its natural contours highlighted.
Situated at a considerable altitude, the viewpoint is frequently a place where one feels the presence of the wind, conveying a sense of spaciousness and direct connection with natural elements. Sometimes, its position allows it to be enveloped in an atmosphere closer to the clouds. The name of the place, "Cabeço das Pedras Negras" (Black Stone Hill), suggests the presence of dark rock formations in its surroundings, characteristic elements of the Azorean volcanic landscape that contribute to the identity and beauty of this viewpoint.
