The Convent of Belém is located in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores.
This convent has roots in the 17th century when it was initially built as a house with a small hermitage. Later, in 1733, the Jesuits took control and remodeled it into the form we admire today.
Nowadays, the Convent of Belém serves as the official residence of the Representative of the Republic for the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
Since 1984, this convent has been classified as a building of public interest due to its historical and architectural significance.
