Alagoa Bay is located on the northeast coast of Flores Island, in the municipality of Santa Cruz das Flores, near the village of Cedros. This point of interest is nestled in a deep and densely forested valley, which extends down to meet the sea, culminating in rocky cliffs. Its position offers a distinct natural environment, where the terrestrial landscape merges with the vastness of the Atlantic.
The scenery of Alagoa Bay is characterized by a unique beach of large volcanic rocks, shaped by the power of the sea and time. One of the most notable aspects are the sharp rock formations that emerge from the water's surface, reaching a considerable height of about fifteen meters. These natural sculptures lend a particular scenic beauty to the bay, being a central element in its visual identity.
While the presence of the beach invites contemplation, it is important to note that Alagoa Bay is not a suitable place for swimming. Its waters are often agitated by strong ocean currents, and access to the sea is hindered by the abundance of rocks. This location is also a passing point integrated into the marked hiking trail GR01FLO, which follows the eastern coast of Flores Island, providing an experience of close contact with nature and local geology.
