District: Vila Real > Peso da Régua > Peso da Régua > Bairro Nossa Senhora do Socorro
Situated in the area of Bairro Nossa Senhora do Socorro, close to the town of Peso da Régua, the estate stretches across south- and west-facing slopes along the banks of the Corgo River, right near its confluence with the Douro River. The landscape is dominated by traditional terraced vineyards and schist-soil slopes winding down toward the water.
Founded in the early 18th century, specifically in 1716, this centuries-old estate has been tied to the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira and her descendants to this day. Over the centuries, it has played a key role in the production and commercialization of wines in the Douro region, keeping alive a family legacy defined by dedication to the land.
The estate harmoniously blends traditional design with contemporary buildings of great architectural value, designed by architect Francisco Vieira de Campos. Highlights include the modern winery built in 2009—which combines cutting-edge technology with the ancient tradition of foot-treading in granite lagares—and the underground barrel cellar.
The property encompasses dozens of hectares of vineyards, including old vineyard plots planted between the 1920s and 1950s that preserve the traditional field blend of grape varieties. Alongside the vines, the estate features terraces dedicated to traditional olive groves and historic orange orchards that enrich the valley's biodiversity and scenic beauty.
