Nova Praia is located on the northern edge of the extensive seafront of Costa da Caparica. It is situated in the area that marks the end of the pedestrian and cycling promenade along the coast. Its location allows close contact with the urban environment of the locality, serving as a transition point between the more built-up area and the beginning of the dune cordon that extends southwards. A pier delimits the beach at its northern end, defining a characteristic landscape.
The sandy area of Nova Praia stands out for its configuration, featuring a strip of sand that varies in width. In the northernmost section, near the pier, the available sand area is more limited, becoming wider as one moves south. This variation means that, during high tide, significant parts of the sandy area in the central and northern zones may be covered by seawater.
During the summer season, Nova Praia plays a particular role within the coastal context. It is at this location that the first stop (identified as number two) of a small train, locally known as Transpraia, is found, which circulates among the various beaches in the region. This seasonal service offers an alternative way to travel along the coastline from this initial point.
Over the years, Nova Praia has received various distinctions attesting to the quality of its waters and the suitability of its infrastructure. These awards, such as the Blue Flag or the Gold Flag, reflect compliance with environmental, safety, and accessibility criteria, serving as important indicators for those seeking a location with recognized standards.
