Location

Praia dos Barcos is located in Vila do Conde, a coastal town in the municipality of the same name. It is specifically situated within the Fishermen's Quarter (Bairro Piscatório), an urban area that stretches along the Atlantic coast. Its location offers views of the Atlantic Ocean, being easily accessible from the urban area of Vila do Conde.

A Fishing Legacy

The name "Praia dos Barcos" (Beach of Boats) reflects its historical and cultural connection to fishing activity. Formerly known as Portinho das Caxinas, this beach keeps a centuries-old tradition alive. Even today, it is common to see small fishing boats resting on the sand, bearing witness to a custom that has endured over time and gives the place a genuine, sea-bound atmosphere.

The Coastal Environment

The sandy area of Praia dos Barcos is of more modest dimensions, which contributes to a more secluded and distinctive atmosphere. Its coastal landscape is defined by distinct elements: to the north, a pontoon serves as a natural boundary, while to the south, the beach borders a line of beach huts, giving it a clear delimitation and a particular setting on the coast of Vila do Conde.
