Situated in the Louros urbanization, in Funchal, the Vila Guida Viewpoint Garden is located in an elevated position on Rua Conde Carvalhal. This spot offers a privileged perspective of Funchal's urban landscape, extending to its bay and the blue of the Atlantic Ocean.

A Comprehensive Look at the Bay

This observation point provides a wide and captivating view of Funchal's natural amphitheater. From here, the gaze reaches the vast expanse of the bay and the activity in the port, allowing visitors to appreciate the city in its full dimension and scenic beauty, with the ocean as a backdrop.

A Green and Botanical Refuge

Beyond its function as a viewpoint, the space is a garden with an area of two thousand square meters, characterized by its botanical richness. Structured on two levels, the upper part hosts three observation points, adorned with vibrant bougainvillea. On the lower level, basalt flagstone paths invite strolls among flowerbeds filled with smaller trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants. The flora includes a diversity of palm trees, with seven distinct species, as well as tipuanas and two imposing kapoks. In warmer seasons, colorful mosaic flowers contribute to the garden's vibrant atmosphere. The larger trees are strategically placed on the eastern edge so as not to obstruct the views of the city.

A Window to the Past

Built in 1938, this viewpoint integrates an element of cultural and artistic value: a tile panel by Adriana Lajinha. This work of art captures an old image of Funchal's amphitheater, offering visitors a visual connection to the history and evolution of the local urban landscape.
