These restored boats tell a part of the local maritime history: one of them, the Mosquito, was in the service of the Blandy house, and the other, the Aquila, was used to support the seaplanes that once landed in Funchal Bay. They represent a link to the island's nautical past.

Urban Redevelopment

The creation of this garden, in the early 2000s, was part of a broader redevelopment project for the historic Santa Maria Maior neighborhood. Where this green space now stands, there was previously a football field and a parking area, demonstrating a transformation that contributed to the urban enhancement of Funchal's coastal zone.
