The Church of Santana stands out in the landscape of the locality of Santana, in the municipality of the same name. Built on an elevated point, it is reached by a staircase that raises it above the remaining constructions. This position grants it remarkable visibility, making it stand out in the village as a whole and marking its presence prominently.
The temple of Santana reveals considerable dimensions, giving it a robust and dignified presence. Its facade displays notable work in dark basalt stonework, a material that lends it a solid appearance and a distinct color. This type of stone is employed with particular mastery in the outlines of the windows, the frame of the main door, and the structure of the bell tower, elements that, together, contribute to its image of solidity.
Attention to architectural details is evident in the Church of Santana. Upon observing its main facade, above the highest window, it is possible to identify an inscription that reads "S.S. ANNA 1869". This element not only marks a relevant date for the construction or renovation of the building but also evokes the dedication of the temple to Saint Anne, to whom it is consecrated. On the bell tower, a clock completes the composition, adding a functional and aesthetic touch to its silhouette.
