The Cabo Girão Skywalk is located in Fontainhas do Mar, a village integrated into the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, on the island of Madeira. This observation point rises imposingly above the island's south coast, providing a broad perspective and direct contact with the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean. Its scenic position allows it to stand out in the surrounding coastal landscape.
At Cabo Girão, a unique observation platform, known as the Skywalk, was developed. It is a structure with a glass floor, suspended approximately 580 meters above sea level. This characteristic gives those who traverse it the distinct sensation of floating over the abyss, directly revealing the ocean and the base of the cliff beneath their feet. It is an experience that challenges the perception of altitude and offers a moment of great singularity.
From the Cabo Girão Skywalk, the view is an expansive panorama encompassing the natural beauty of the Madeiran coast. It is possible to contemplate the extent of the south coast, with its rock formations plunging into the sea. Particularly visible is the Fajã do Cabo Girão, an area of cultivated land at the base of the cliff, which reveals itself as a verdant mosaic against the blue of the Atlantic. The breadth of the landscape provides visually impactful moments, especially when observing the changes in light and color over the ocean and cliffs, such as those that occur in the late afternoon.
