Location

Located in Vila Verde dos Francos, in the municipality of Alenquer, district of Lisbon.

Origin and History

Construction with roots in the 13th century, Romanesque-Gothic in style, although it has undergone several changes over the centuries.

Reconstruction in the 17th century, maintaining old elements, such as Romanesque corbels.

Architecture

Rectangular plan with a simple facade, finished in a triangular pediment.

Entrance with a straight lintel portal, topped by a window and a niche.

Bell tower on the right side, with arched openings and a pointed roof.

Interior

Tomb of D. Luís de Noronha, parish priest of the church, who died in 1643.

Sepulcher of Simão Barbosa, from Arrifana do Sousa, and Paulo Palácios, prior and confessor of Cardinal D. Henrique.

Church with a vaulted nave and five altars, including the main altar dedicated to the patron saint.

Surroundings

Located in an urban area, isolated, surrounded by the cemetery and a churchyard.

Use

Functions as a parish church, maintaining its religious function throughout the centuries.
