The Philippine Bridge of Carenque de Baixo, also known as the Old Bridge or Lido Bridge, is located over the Carenque Stream, between the parish of Venteira in the municipality of Amadora and the parishes of Queluz and Belas in the municipality of Sintra. Built in the 17th century, the bridge was part of the old Royal Road Lisbon-Sintra, which passed through the Palace of Queluz.
On the bridge, there is a stone marker that reads: "This bridge was ordered to be built by the Senate of Lisbon at the expense of the royal treasury of the people, 1631." This inscription reveals its historical value and the context of its construction.
The Philippine Bridge of Carenque de Baixo is classified as a Property of Municipal Interest since 2006, highlighting its historical and architectural value.
In the past, the bridge was a crucial route for road traffic between Amadora and Queluz. In 2013, traffic was redirected to a new bridge located downstream, but the Philippine Bridge of Carenque de Baixo continues to be an important historical landmark.
