Located in the parish of Santo António, in Lisbon, easily accessible from the city center.
Its origin dates back to 1768, with the creation of the Royal Press (Impressão Régia), one of the oldest institutions in Portugal. In 1833, it became known as the National Press (Imprensa Nacional).
The National Press and Mint (Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, INCM) is responsible for the production of essential documents for the Portuguese State. This includes the editing of official publications and the minting of metallic currency.
INCM produces documents such as passports, citizen cards, and postage stamps, which are fundamental for the daily functioning of the country.
In addition to government services, INCM also publishes works that preserve Portuguese and universal culture.
In 2018, it celebrated 250 years of history, highlighting its relevance in society.
The building is an interesting place to visit, where you can learn more about the history of printing and currency in Portugal.
INCM organizes events and exhibitions, such as "Imprimere" at Casa do Design, which help to publicize its long trajectory.
