The Church of Santo Estêvão is located in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, in Lisbon, Portugal.
The church was originally built in the 12th century, in a Romanesque style. In 1733, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style, changing its orientation to north-south, which increased its visual impact on the area.
The temple suffered major damage during the 1755 earthquake, but it was restored and reopened in 1773. In the 1830s, it underwent another restoration intervention.
Since 1918, the Church of Santo Estêvão has been classified as a National Monument, which highlights its historical and cultural importance.
The building is known for its imposing Baroque style and its significant importance in the history of Lisbon, attracting visitors interested in historical heritage and architecture.
