Coxos Beach is located on the coast of the municipality of Mafra, integrated into the Ribamar urbanization, in the locality of Santo Isidoro. This oceanic beach, bathed by the Atlantic, is situated in a natural bay with a Northwest orientation. Its positioning offers a particular setting, with cliffs that delineate it. At the top of the southern cliff, there is a space that provides a wide and privileged view over the coastal landscape and the sandy area.
Characterized by a medium-sized and quite wide sandy area, Coxos Beach presents itself as an inviting space framed by the imposing nature of its cliffs. The landscape is dominated by the presence of the ocean and the rock formations that extend, such as a notable slab in the northern cliff area. This natural setting invites the observation of the coast and the dynamics of the tides.
The waters that bathe Coxos Beach are known for their richness, harboring a diversity of marine fauna. It is important to note that, near the tip of the southern cliff, currents can be intense, revealing the strength of the Atlantic Ocean at this point on the coast. Coxos Beach is recognized for being part of the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve, which highlights its importance and the particularity of the sea conditions for wave-related activities, making it an emblematic spot in the context of European surfing.
