Praia da Conceição is situated in the very heart of the village of Cascais, benefiting from a central and easily accessible location. It is flanked by historic buildings such as the Chalet Faial and the imposing Hotel Albatroz. During low tide, the Conceição beach naturally merges with the neighbouring Praia da Duquesa, forming a continuous sandy strip. This spot marks the beginning of the popular promenade, which invites coastal strolls along the shoreline.

Historical and Symbolic Legacy

The name Praia da Conceição derives from the existence of a nearby chapel, dedicated to Our Lady of Conceição, conferring a symbolic character upon it. From 1872 onwards, with Cascais chosen as the summer residence of the Portuguese court, including King Luís I, its beaches gained great popularity and a legacy linked to nobility. The Chalet Faial, a distinguished 19th-century building that once housed the Court of Justice, is an architectural landmark that borders part of the beach and enriches the landscape.

This beach is recognized for its generally calm and transparent waters, a characteristic that stems from the natural protection of the Cascais bay, which shields the beach from stronger waves. Its golden sand invites rest and leisure. Despite being bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, which can be cool, they reach more pleasant temperatures during the summer. The quality of the water and environment at Praia da Conceição is annually confirmed by the award of the Blue Flag, and the safety of bathers is ensured by the surveillance present during the bathing season.
